The Germans, with all their engineering brilliance and automotive innovations, didn't invent the cup holder either. When you drive you're busy driving. You can go super fast on the Autobahn, but you're supposed to judge the circumstances yourself. Those people doing 160 m/h are concentrated accomplished drivers who know that if they in an accident they'll have to explain the judge why the chosen speed was a safe speed at that part of the road in that situation. If they don't succeed, they will be punished hard, "there was no speed limit there" is not a defense.
