Got back earlier this morning from a very short, but nice, 6.00 mile ride around West Creek Pkwy business complex, west of Richmond, Virginia.

I wanted to test myself, my sciatica, my lower back, etc... and go up on the 52t chainring, and try to maintain over a 15mph speed. At any sign of tenderness, muscle strain, back pain, I'd shift back down, slow way down and take it easy. But the good new is, I was able to ride with the gear combo of 52/19 and not have a problem.

As seen in the photo below, I got back to the little pullover area in the business complex and two other younger guys also pulled in behind me. They had newer, high tech, Cervelo and S-works road bikes. They noticed my C&V '85 Fuji and (not exactly rude) sort of made a face. I looked at them and their bikes, and spoke up, "1985... An old classic Fuji... Still going strong!". The one younger guy had a deer in the headlights look and said, "Dude! That's as old as me!"

*sigh* I must be getting old!
