I think that rim brakes might be more prone to maladjustment or wheel setting after removal. Try this, before clamping down on the axle skewer, wiggle the wheel side to side a little to free up the brake pads a little.

The real solution would be a bike rack that wouldn't require you to remove anything on the bike.
