Judt about any decent tire that's not worn is fine. Add to that proper inflation and good (like Kool Stop) clean brake pads and you're fine. That's also assuming brakes are adjusted too.

The chances of major problems on descents from tires/brakes are almost nil. The real things to worry about are motor vehicles, pot holes, and exceeding speeds for your bike handling skills.
