I don't think I feel any pain when making cash transactions. This might have been the case, years ago, when I was young and poorer than I am, now, but I recognize every debit transaction as an immediate reduction in available cash. I feel much more pain when using credit than with cash or debit transactions. Maybe that's just a function of getting older, and (hopefully) wiser. The only reason I feel anything resembling pain when I buy vintage bikes with cash is because it's such a PITA to get to large sums of cash. I rarely have more than a few dollars in my wallet, and going to the bank is sooo much trouble, these days.
