Questions

I can find 10 speed rings (albeit double crank type) much easier and cheaper than 9 speeds. First, will 10 speed rings for a double crank work and should I run a 9 speed chain or 10 with the 9 speed cassette?

Does the middle need to be ramped and pinned? 90% of our riding is either in the middle or large ring so if it takes a bit to get it from the little to the middle, I'm not too worried, unless it just won't work.

Other than re-positioning the front derailleur, is there anything else I need to be worried about?

Thanks in advance
I changed the chainrings on our T2000, 9 speed, from the standard 53/39/30 to 48/38/24 for touring some years ago. Initially I put on non-ramped and pinned and regretted it because of horrible changing. Now the big ring and center are ramped and pinned and changes are smooth. The small ring is a Salsa - 24 is the smallest that will fit.
