For tubulars the overnight stretch, the warming of the tire in the sun or with a hair dryer, and now the gluing tape all combine to make the problems literally disappear.
For clinchers with and without tubes, bead jacks like the Koolstop and the VAR completely eliminate the mounting problems. Some folks are too proud to employ a bead jack, but there is no accounting for that. Stubborn refusal to use a best practice or a magical tool is just cutting off one's nose to spite one's face. Go figure.
