These two bikes are designed to meet somewhat different goals. I think that Traitor Slot is a fantastic bike, and if that were the type of bike I were after I would not hesitate to buy one. But since I'm looking for something just a bit less off-road and a bit more on-road I went for the Safari, and I have absolutely no regrets. I bought the Mazama first, but since it has a design flaw that cannot be fixed, I took it back on got the Safari in it's stead, and I'm really glad it worked out this way. I actually like the Safari a whole lot more than I did the Mazama. I could not be happier with this bike. When you hear people refer to the Safari as "built like a tank", that is no exaggeration; this thing is a beast!
Bottom line the Slot and the Safari are both great bikes, and you can't go wrong with either one of them. Looks like the Safari is all sold out for this year other than a few size smalls left perhaps. Of course they've been on sale for about $400 off retail as well.
