As you all may know, I don't at all approve of the USA tipping system as a way to reward good service. I think that both server compensation and server performance assessment are the jobs of the restaurant management, not the patrons. I always give a standard tip, no matter what, and then communicate my feelings about the service to the management. If problems aren't resolved, the establishment loses my business. I don't have time or energy for doing negative server performance reviews in the form of tiny gratuities. Not my job.
I always tip 20%. Except for last night when I tipped 2%.
