I've ridden every saddle I've owned in 40 years without padded short or any riding shorts for that matter.....You just have to try some saddles and see what works for YOU!....Could be leather,may not be.

I have had a couple non Brooks saddles I wish I still had....Or have worn out and they don't make any more....A company called Spenco used to make a gel saddle that was wonderful.
