To confuse matters more the Ergo is a bit different from the Nova, the Duo and the Smarti as well. Think of the Ergo as the Nova's redneck cousin. I'm not sure what the point of the extra material on the Ergo and Nova is, however. I use the Tara and it works wonderfully without any extra metal.

Rose Bikes out of Germany sells the Tubus racks for dirt cheap. The Tara is currently $53 plus very reasonable shipping. That's about half of what you find it in the US.
