I got my cheap Chinese bell in the mail yesterday, put in on my bike and it works OK. Not the loudest or best sounding bell in the world but it does the trick. I alerted the morning walkers to my presence this morning.
The thing about this bell is that the striker is made of plastic. I'm thinking of modifying it by drilling a small hole in the striker and putting in a tiny screw.
