And you act like those tolerances are so high that they're commercially unviable and the issue is practically unfixiable, because your solution isn't to expect manufacturers to hold better tolerances, and thus place the onus on the manufacturer to who is responsible for manufacturing tolerances. Your solution is to blame press fits, imply that it's so unsolvable and an inherent problem with press fits, when it isn't, and manufacturers should revert back to threaded instead blaming the standards.
A poorly done PF shell is cheaper than a threaded shell, but a threaded shell is not that much different in cost from a well made PF shell. The issue is the fact that companies choose to do a poor job with PF shells because they can get away with it on most units sold. The issue is that it's poorly done, not that it's PF, but you seem to think that's a false equivalence.
