Thoughts on this 2009 Specialized Sequoia frame

I'm thinking of an upcoming winter project and for something to help me with learning on how to put a bike together myself.

I'm curious on peoples thoughts on this bike frame. I was originally waiting till I lose another 50 pounds to buy myself a road bike for touring and some C level group rides. Was thinking that maybe this would be a great way to slowly put together a bike, not for selling, but for the experience and self satisfactions of doing it myself while I continue losing weight and riding my hybrid.

Not going to over do it with parts, was thinking of some standard 700C 32 spoke wheels, Microshift 10 speed groupset, most likely some Tektro brakes and so forth. Keeping it affordable, but thinking of riding the h311 out of it.

Was wondering if anyone has any experience with a Seqoia. Thoughts? Suggestions?
