There was that Gulf CAAD a couple years ago. I'd spend my $55 that way.
I'm not sure about not being worthy, just because the frame costs $500 doesn't mean it is a bad frame. Most manufacturers, so I've been told, void their warranties if you re-paint the frames. I think I would chose a 066 +2000 paint for $2500 than a "name a brand" $3000 frame +$2000 paint job.
