It's just the model name. The UE-8 model is an upgraded version of the UO-8. The UO-8 model is like yours, but without the fenders and lights. UO-18 would be a mixte version (ladies?) without the lights etc, and a UE-18 would be the mixte version, with lights etc.

The graphics on your UO-8 would make it a 1974-1976 year.
