If you do have alloy crank bolts, don't use them to install and initially torque the crank arms. Use steel bolts first and, after the crank has been properly installed, you can substitute the alloy bolts. For that matter, if you do have alloy crank bolts, buy steel ones and use them and use the alloy bolts as decorators.
