Coincidentally, I was experimenting last night with a claw-mounted Vx RD last night and noticed this large chain gap. The greater the chain gap, the more sluggish a RD may feel and may require more overshift since the chain can bend slightly across that chain gap. This could be as much a reason for decline in shifting performance as the shifters.
The Cyclone was mounted on the same claw, but I can try adjusting the b-limit screw out a bit and see if things improve.
