We can't wear jeans unless we are going out into the field. In the past, HR has felt compelled to send out a reminders to people that things like jeans, stretch pants, sweat pants and t-shirts are not "business casual" in response to some people "pushing the envelope."
I work for a pretty small company and roles can shift from field visits to working in the shop to doing CAD work, so it's basically 100% jeans time for me. And unless we have visitors or I'm going to a customer site, I'm more likely to be wearing a bike shop shirt rather than a company shirt. So my wardrobe has basically been unchanged since engineering school.
