I think that's what I said.

I'm not unfamiliar with joint breaks. I broke my fibula (with some displacement) and the medial malleolus on the end of the tibia. The fibula break was repaired with a plate and 2 screws while the medial malleolus was repaired with a pin. The pin actually caused (and causes) me more pain while walking or running than the plate did.

The plate was removed about 20 years after the break when the bone stress fractured over the top of the plate. The pin is still there sans head because the surgeon had a "D'oh!" moment and twisted off the head.

I agree that riding a bike while still in the cast is probably not a good idea. But post cast, walking could easily result in damage to the injured joint or bone because we humans are pretty good at bipedal motion but we haven't perfected it
