I agree.

The difference is not subtle. The presence of the lip and no holes is an automatic NGS giveaway. Holes were added to record when the lip was added. NGS did change in the 1980s to a more simplified clamp and may have even got the winged wheel logo.

I believe the derailleur on the red bianchi pictured above is the 1980s NGS.

Don't forget that velobase is a Wiki (a good one, but still...) and the information is crowd sourced. Don't you guys remember the pre-velobase days when all we had to go one were the campy only catalog scans and then just reckoning based on having had many variation in our hands? It may interest many to know that what most people around these here forums. There were no fewer 7 variations of record prior to the lip being added and that is rough estimate. There is probably more.
