I've said this many times. My PSA never went over 2.6. The finger test is how my primary care doc decided that something was wrong. My prostate didn't "feel symmetrical". I was referred to a urologist and he monitored things for almost to a year. At that point he did a prostate MRI and found 6 spots that were suspicious. Using the MRI image and ultrasound he did a biopsy on the 6 spots and all were cancerous. He told me not to put off any decision about surgery or treatment for more that 6 months. It took my wife and I about 5 minutes to make the decision to have the surgery. The cancer was completely removed so neither radiation nor chemo were necessary.
