You want to upgrade your R800? Why not? Just look at what you need, and what performs best for racing specific activities, if that is what you want. Don't waste money on bling if you want to race. Spend it on parts that will perform, more so than simply look good.
For example, Ritchey WCS bar/stem components are great and cost effective. Light, yet very stiff for racing. Buying a set of fancy carbon bars is really not necessary, unless you need a certain level of vibration dampening for extremely long races (like 100mi races, etc).
Nothing wrong with upgrades that are made to help you win a race.
