15 miles /hr for long distances biking - about 2 and half hours on same mountain bike

We get to bike long distances only 6 months a year in Quebec - out of which only 3 months can be called as genuine biking months ----need to make the most of the time we have -- so I am asking if

switching to hybrid or road bike will result in more speed and a more fit body?

which one would be better Hybrid or Road? if i do the switch.
Probably a fat bike would be best. You should be able to keep 28 mph on a fat bike for about 2 hours before you consider a road bike.
