Typically the designer specifies a Thicker tube wall, when using the lower cost steels .
If spending More, the higher cost Alloys are able to maintain equal strength with thinner wall Tubing ,
so Weights are a little less.
The strength is trying to remain with in the range of Adequate for intended service..
