I don't think that would matter as far as tires. Riding thru a little sand is nothing. Just be careful trying to corner too fast or something like that so your tires don't slide out from under you.
So you can get a regular skinny tire road bike or a wider tire road bike like the Diverge or an even wider tire bike like a gravel bike or a hybrid. Just depends on personal preference. I don't like low handlebars & I think I prefer tires about 32 width (although I've never tried the skinny road tires). I would avoid a super stiff thick frame like I have because it's just not comfortable. It is durable though, but who cares if you're just on the road. I've never seen a bike fall apart.
