I bought a kirk kinetic trainer and got on it about 2 months after the ankle break. I had to climb up on it with crutches. I should have done it sooner.

Everyone (doc, PT, wife, random people) told me I should be putting weight on my ankle way before I was able to do it. Bone is completely healed in six weeks, and in Europe people with internal fixations like mine were doing weight-bearing physical therapy a week after surgery. In liability-conscious America, the advice tends to be much more cautious. In retrospect, my inherent paranoia compounded this problem and slowed my recovery.
