You must be familiar with San Diego. Did you live here? A (cat1) teammate of mine has the KOM for Montezuma - pretty impressive. The guy is very elite, only San Diego rider to go to the national road race this year.

I've gone about 55 downhill on a road bike in kit. I got a nasty high speed wobble that threw my hands off the bars, crotch slammed to the top tube, left knee hit the front wheel which was enough to kill the wobble so luckily I didn't crash. Surprisingly he tire took a lot of meat off my knee.
What an amazing save! You're lucky; that could have been very nasty.

I've had several bad downhill crashes and so I don't bomb hills the way that I used to anymore. I'll rarely exceed 40 mph on a long decent these days.
