The old guy that taught me how to mount tight tires had me sit on a 5 gallon bucket and squeeze the tire at two points with my knees to do the same thing that that fellow in the video used toe straps for. Actually, that's a DARN good idea to use toe straps!! Wished I had thought about that 40+ years ago!! LOL

The fellow in the video is correct though, it is key to continue to push the bead down into the rim starting from the bottom and working around to the unmounted portion. That goes for wire-bead and Kevlar bead tires. Back in the day the IRC 23c tires were our nemesis as I recall.

A previous post was also correct that a warm tire will mount a whole lot easier than a cold one. Stick it in the sun for a few minutes first.

Those VAR tire irons are the greatest to. I had one years ago and have been meaning to get another one. Retrogression sells them I see.
