I've never had to go beyond what my arthritic elbows could squeak out, so I don't know if there's another problem here, or what. But let's forget it, as this is someone else's thread.
you a probably fine with the way you install the lock ring. I just get mine pretty tight, and have never had one loosen up or had cassette wobble.
