Thanks for that, someone earlier mentioned them and I had seen the eBay listings. Despite the whole long pull vs short pull issues {avid bb7 mountain are long pull) I had enough anecdotal accounts that regular short pull tektro units would work, that I used my long standing bike store to buy a set. It was simpler and cheaper than ordering thru the states (currency exchange, shipping and cross border fees) plus I prefer to spend money in a store here where the folks often help me with things.
Worse case scenario would have been returning them to the store and getting a credit, but I buy stuff there regularly. I would have then ordered the 741 off eBay.

So bottom line is that for a drop bars conversion using bb7 mtns, these tektros work well.
I'm not home now but will note the model name and take a photo to show how the lever throw is perfectly adequate, ie they do not come to close to the bars.
