I guess the vast majority of LeMonds are from the Trek-era and mostly not vintage, but I feel like the steel Trek LeMonds were kind of the rear guard of classic road bikes -- high quality steel tubing, great geometry, classic quill stems. If they had lugs and downtube shifters they'd fit right in. This may be why I love them. The frame has the best qualities of the classic era, but the bikes take to modern components like they were made for each other (mostly because they were).

Anyway, I rode my 2001 Buenos Aires to work today, and it was such a joy that I had to dig up this thread to share pictures of my baby -- the Lemon D. I've "modernized" this one even more with a "none more black" 5700-series 105 triple groupset and 105/DT Swiss R460 wheels that I built just for this bike.

I don't know what it is about this bike, but it rides like it was built by elves...simply magical. Much as I've tried, I can't replicate the feel of this one with any other bike I own.
