Thanks again everyone. I did the route that HBCruiser1 posted last weekend with slight variations. Honestly, while I enjoyed the ocean side, I hated the rest. Going from Palos Verdes to Long Beach was boring and I even had a car harass me. The worst part was the section after the LA River path ends coming from Long Beach. No shoulder, train tracks, no stores to purchase water or food. That said, I doubt I will take the train to/from Oceanside if I have to ride that section again.

However, I did like the section in East LA. Need to explore that area more. I often do a big ride on Saturday and follow it up with a recovery ride on Sunday. I use these recovery rides to slowly check out new areas.

I will do Santa Barbara at some point, but not this weekend. Now I want to do the Santa Monica mountains again, but without using a car to get to a closer start point. I can either go up once I pass the 405 (Brentwood?) and come down into the valley and perhaps return via Ventura or go back over once I pass that 405 (Beverly Glen? Laurel Canyon?). I have gone down into the valley from Mulholland in the past and I know those roads are steep. So maybe the inverse? Muholland, down into the valley, and climb in the mountains, or are the roads steep there as well?
