Check Nashbar for the latest price on a new version ... find out how old it is, how many miles on it ... lots of people ride second-hand CF bikes with no issues, but you'd have to check it out and feel safe with it.

There is a thread here somewhere ( http://www.bikeforums.net/mountain-b...rack-opps.html ) about a guy who cracked his Al frame ... so it isn't like Only used CF can be an issue ... and hopefully since it is a road bike the guy wasn't doing BMX-style stunts ... but there is no guarantee.
