Thus, I need to get one. Is there a way to measure for the proper size stem or is it just trial and error? My last build, I had multiple stems around. I am not sure what happened to them. It seems like there must be a way to measure because trial and error can get expensive.
Set your saddle setback on your new frame.

Measure your reach to your bars on your current frame.

This will tell you where your bars will need to be on your new frame.

Measure from this "point" (center of where bars should be to center of steerer tube).

That's your new stem length.
