I'm surprised I didn;t think of the nail polish idea - I use clear nail polish for everything! Just never though about a silver metallic kinda nail polish... that might be my first visit.

BTW - from the old days when I did a lot of backpacking - waterproofed stick matches by dipping in nail polish...

If you have a Michael's, they usually have Testor's hobby paint, plus some other brands that craftey people use.
