My setup was more driven by volume than weight. I wanted gear that would fit in a Carradice Camper saddlebag and a Ortlieb handlebar bag so that I could tour on just about any bike and carry my gear easily when off the bike. My two big compromises are that I only have once change of clothes and so usually do some laundry most nights (but I just take them in the shower with me) and my cooking pot is a large mug so I'm limited to things like soups, stews, pasta and tea. I'm right at 18lbs of gear...including bags and I could save a few pounds if I put my mind to it. But I'm more interested in touring with my set up than lightening it much more.
