So, a month or two ago a Schwinn Prologue showed up in the local classifieds and then right away they pulled the ad. I contacted them and was told the family had decided to keep it. Asked them to keep me in mind if they ever decided to really sell it. Well this afternoon she sent me a text asking if I was still interested and of course I couldn't say no.
So I am now the proud owner of a slightly worn but potentially awesome Prologue. It's built up with a full Dura Ace setup. RD-7401 on the back with a 7 speed cassette. 53/39 chainring, Dura-Ace hubs, brakes and headset, etc. The Derailleurs Shift ok but the rear is really gummed up. It's going to need work before I test the bike out. There's also a rather worn Turbo Saddle on it and nice seatpost with some serious setback. Lots of marks in the paint as I gave it a quick wipedown but I didn't notice any dings. Rims are Mavic Open 4 CD's and seems perfectly true with minimal brake track wear. Really looks like new cables on it which is strange considering the gunked up RD and the grime I found all over the frame. It's also got a specialized stem and Scott Aerobars. Had a kit bag under the saddle with some some tire levers, allen wrenches and patch kits. This bike was definitely used unlike the almost pristine Fuji Opus III I got Saturday.
It's either a 21" or 22" and the flat tires pumped right up and seem to be holding air just fine. From a little research on an old Scooper post it appears to be a frame made in April of 1987.
So now i have a 1987 Prologue to go with my 1987 Circuit. So the best Panasonic Schwinn and the best Greenville Schwinn. Guess that means I need a 1987 Paramont to complete the triad, LOL!
I'll try and get some proper pics up tomorrow but for now this has to do. It's tatty but wow, I've got a Prologue!!
