Doge, if your son is performing at this level (road CAT1, representing Team USA juniors (I assume)), then it wouldn't be far-fetched to see if he can get an equipment sponsorship from major manufacturers like Felt, Zipp/SRAM, etc.... It may be worth a few phone calls. Even if you don't get free frames or wheels, getting them at cost is a huge bonus. I'd pursue that.

I worked with a young elite athlete and after a few emails and phone calls, she was able to secure a "Grass Roots" sponsorship with Zipp/SRAM and was able to get any gear in the Zipp/SRAM catalogs at a significant discount as well as getting a similar sponsorship from Tiemeyer Cycles for a custom frame.
