My Cannondale Six13(56cm frame) weighs a tick under 17lbs. even with water bottle cages, Specialized Elite bike computer (with cadence unit) and Speedplay pedals (the heavier 250 gram set). And I WEIGHED the bike on an extremely accurate mechanical fish scale (I've checked it repeatedly for accuracy) so this isn't weight weenie spreadsheet nonsense, it's what the friggin bike actually weighs. You know with annoying add-a-gram nuisances like handlebar tape and inner tubes. Anything under 17 lbs IS ultralight. And all these '15 lb.' bikes you hear and read about? Trust me on this, 2/3 of them are heavier than that and the people making the claims either don't know or don't WANT to know. In fact I know VERY few cyclists who have actually put their bikes on accurate scales.

So take it with a grain of salt. And for the record, I'm confident a 275lb Clydesdale dude could ride my Six13 without worrying about anything breaking down on it. The bike is a sub 17lb TANK. Today's carbon/ti/alloy/aluminum lightweight components don't snap in half like the drilled out componentry of the 1970's and 1980's.

The weight weenie fascination with grammage and the misinformation related to same in the cycling world is a bit staggering. Like I'm going to spend $1500 for Zip 404's and deal with the hassle of tubular tires to save 10 oz. on my bike. When Healthnet signs me to a pro contract - maybe (don't hold your breath). In the meantime just shut up and ride already.
