Life is not black and white. Car-light people exist on a continuum with (for want of a better term) car-heavy people. Again, the point I am trying to make is that getting around without a car (either because you don't have one, or you left it at home, or your spouse is the one who usually uses it, or whatever) gives you health benefits that you don't get if you routinely drive everywhere. As as result, I strongly suspect, with some evidence to back me up, that people who mostly get around without a car are healthier than people who mostly get around with a car. This would be on average, not based on subsets like backwoods hikers and spinners.
