Well ... that's like saying I need a car to go swimming ... I don't need one, but if I want to swim in non-toxic water and don't want to hop someone's fence and steal a swim int a stranger's pool ....

For that matter, i can camp absolutely anywhere ... so long as I am willing to risk being rousted by the police, maybe arrested, and maybe lose all my stuff ....

You said if I cannot quote it it was never said, but right here you are essentially saying that there are plenty of places to hike which are accessible without owning a car ... so long as one is willing to compromise.

For that matter ... i can get anywhere a car owner can get ... if I rent a car. Gets silly pretty quickly.
