I've never heard anybody say they are too lazy to shift. It's a flick of your finger, how lazy can one human be? Don't get me wrong I am all about simplifying a bike as long as it still works for the application at hand - I switched from a 3x9 to a 1x9 for that reason - I never used 2 of my front chainrings just cause I didn't need them. But I was never too lazy to shift. That's just funny.
