Only Avid brakes are made to have CPS washers underneath them, the Avid brakes that use these washers are offset to a standard disc brake caliper and they need these washers for correct placement over the rotor. These washers will pack a standard disc brake caliper out too much.
Use these washers with brakes that weren't designed to use them and you're asking for trouble.
1. The pads will overhang the rotor
2. Overhanging pads will give less braking power as there's less pad on the rotor
3. Overhanging pads will have a unworn section on them, as the rest of the pads wear, the unworn sections will get closer to each other when braking, if the unworn sections of the pads touch, the brakes will fail.
