so you're saying that the ones I mentioned are the only brands still alive today? BJ, Mercian, E-B, Woodrup as the original survivors? Wow, that's pretty sad the other brands are only able to be had by luck as vintage finds.
As for your last Q, I don't feel the country of manufacture deems whether the company is alive or dead. Pinarello and Bianchi are still Pinarello and Bianchi. But there is a difference between them and say a Zullo, or a Sarto. I'm still a fan of old Raleighs, Bianchis, and Pins.
Well, if the bike is not made or assembled in England/Great Britain, is it a British bike? I'd say no. There are several old names still around but they are now just a brand name for the bike. Raleigh, Masi and Schwinn come to mind but there are others.
I asked because I was trying to better understand your definition of a British bike.
