The answer to this question...it all depends.
On the road a cyclist can not control how people drive, thankfully I live in the suburbs with very little traffic and I avoid heavy traffic roads.
On the trail, you control your destiny basically, I prefer gravel and not so technical trails so I'm at a very low risk.
