Pardon my ignorance here. I understand that Km's are shorter than miles, and that Canada is much wider than the USA.

But how did they squeeze 20,000 km into a transCanada route? By very rough estimate it's over twice longer than necessary, so does it include lots of zigzag, and side trips, or is it a circular route (out and back on different routes)?
