I don't like the messenger mini cause it's awkward to carry with that protruding metal loop for the wheel. I like to be able to stick my ulock in my back pocket and just ride - hence why I went with a regular mini. I don't have problems finding places to lock to around Jersey City or Manhattan either for that matter - the abus mini just fits around parking meters and any bike rack or sign just fine. And it's double shackled, which is nice, and just a hair over 2lbs so not too heavy.
I actually live about 1.5 miles west of Grove St PATH but my wife and I commute there everyday or nearby. Great to "meet" a fellow JC resident. Regarding the Abus Mini...do you feel this is a better lock than the Messenger Mini?

I'm curious about the pitlocks...I have been looking into something like this but they seem costly. Any thoughts on the pinhead version?

Mostly I want to secure the front wheel. Also looking into a solution to lock a fork mounted B&M light on my wife's Linus with rim brakes...Any ideas?
