Just an update. Talked with the shop and, since we both had concerns about the sora crank, and I wanted to drop some teeth, we're going to replace it with a deore m590 triple. 26/36/48t

Gonna hold onto the sora crank, and see if I can't use it for a homemade bike one day.

Just out of curiosity, would an ultegra 6800 bb work with my crank, and if so, would it be ideal for touring? BBs are generally cheap, and the ult boasts significantly reduce friction. Anecdotes seem to support this, and I think 20 something bucks for a much smoother stroke is peanuts.
