When I got my tandem, I measured my stoker's single bike and tried to set the tandem up to match, and did that with the current stoker as well. But right off the bat, I noticed the seatpost angle is different, so you can't exactly match ALL the geometry. But it's still worked out okay, too. I guess the moral is, make sure you're not solving a problem that doesn't really exist.
